MA, MEd, BMus(Hons), LTCL, LRSM, PGCE, NPQH, CertSENCo
This is my 7th year as Headteacher at Horsley. It’s a special place to be. There is a strong community and family feel about the school, founded upon our Christian identity. Teaching is a vocation and a calling; life thus tends to be busy, but outside of education I enjoy gardening and running. Travel is something of an obsession. I also have a strong interest in special educational needs and am forever completing courses of one kind or another.
PGCE, BA (Hons), Cert in Personnel Practice and Level 1 FA Football Coaching
I am in my 15th year of teaching and have taught in a range of primary settings. I love teaching all age groups and all subjects. I am the English lead and love to discover new children's books. My specialisms are in P.E. and Computing and I run an after-school coding club for KS1 and KS2. One of my biggest loves is my cockerpoo, Ruby. We go on long walks in the countryside where I take photos, and she chases birds. I spend my free time keeping fit by group training and cycling.
BEd (Hons) in Primary Education and Qualified Emotional Literacy Support Assistant
I am a teacher working in Foxes class which I thoroughly enjoy! I love being involved in all aspects of school life, including playing ‘The Funny looking Fairy’ in the School Christmas Pantomime production! Prior to this I had the pleasure of running ‘Horsley Baby & Toddlers Group’, as well as being Mummy to my three children, all of whom attend Horsley School. As a family we have tons of energy! We have many hobbies including caring for our many pets and renovating our new home in Nailsworth. Our favourite family pastime is cycling around the Forest of Dean.
BA (Hons) English Literature
I wanted to be a teacher ever since I was 5 years old and have loved my job ever since qualifying in 2005. I still wake up as excited to spend the day learning as I did on my very first day as a teacher. I enjoy learning outside and using my Forest School Qualification to support outdoor learning. I aim to ensure all children in my care learn the skills they need for their adventure in the big wide world. When I am not at school, I enjoy exploring the countryside with a picnic and a new book!
BA (Hons) Mathematics with QTS, Foundation Diploma in Art &Design, Level 1 Cert Counselling Skills
I have been a teacher since 2001, and have worked in a variety of schools throughout that time. I love working with young people and one of my favourite places to be is in a classroom. I am happiest when wandering around Westonbirt Arboretum, or sitting in a coffee shop watching the world go by. I try to be creative wherever I can, and am an avid reader. I also enjoy running and yoga. I love visiting new places, and enjoyed a European tour for my fortieth birthday this Summer.
BA (Hons) Primary Education with QTS
I have always wanted to be a teacher, I used to register my teddies and give my friends Maths problems to solve. I qualified as a teacher in 1996 and enjoyed working in primary and middle schools for 13 years. I have also worked as a childminder. I fell in love with Horsley Playgroup when my eldest child was there. In 2017 I was lucky enough to become the playgroup manager, a role I still relish to this day. I am very excited to be working as a primary school teacher again.. In my spare time I enjoy camping, hiking and the seaside and when I can combine all 3 I’m very happy.
BA (Hons) Fine Art, PGCE
I qualified as an art teacher in 1998 from Homerton College Cambridge. I have fine art degree from Aberystwyth University having specialised in print making. I was Head of Art at Nottingham High School until my daughter was born. I began teaching at Horsley when we relocated to the village in 2015 and my daughters Isobel and Cassandra started at the school. I also run Art Adventurers after school clubs as well as local workshops in the school time. Since moving to the area I have learned to needle felt and enjoy every kind of art and craft activity in my spare time.
BA (Hons), PGCE (Primary 5-11yrs), PGCE (SENCO), PG Cert Childhood and Early Years
For over 20 years I have had the privilege of being a class teacher across all the primary age groups as well as supporting children and their families with SEND. Helping children to be successful, confident and happy at school makes teaching a truly special career. My family and I moved to the area in 2022 and we very quickly felt welcomed and part of the school and local community. When not at school I can be found pottering in my garden, reading in a cosy chair with a nice cup of tea and exploring this beautiful part of the world with my dogs.
B.Ed (Hons), Cert in Counselling Skills, MA/Diploma in non-directive Play Therapy
I originally come from a primary teaching background, teaching in my home city of Birmingham (bostin’!) for many years, before relocating to this area. Having worked at Horsley Playgroup and School for several years in various roles, I have now taken on this new role: a job which I thoroughly enjoy for its varied and broad demands, as well as the daily contact with both children and parents. In my spare time, I love to cycle, read, swim and sing, as well as spending time with my family.
Ba (Hons). Dip SW.
I have a background in social work, disability equality and human rights.I have worked with and for disabled adults and children throughout my career in roles ranging from direct social care through to legal casework, policy, practice development, training and consultancy. After having my children and spending some time away from paid work, I helped out at Horsley Playgroup where I became a play assistant and Special Educational Needs Coordinator. I found work in early years education incredibly rewarding, and I am now thoroughly enjoying being a SEN Teaching Assistant.I enjoy art, dancing, talking, and eating!
